African black soaps are made using organic ingredients, although the specific constituents depends on the client needs. Most times they are made without preservatives in order preserve it's organic properties. Generally, Tocopherol acetate, which is an antioxidant, plays a good role in preserving the product but it is not enough.

Therefore, adding water to an already finished product may accelerate the degradation of the product. If you need to use water during the production of the soap ensure it is distilled water and proper preservatives are used. For example, Optiphen plus and Germal plus. So it is safe to say it is best to use as little water as possible especially when only antioxidants are used.
